I’m on a search for rare reference material. Looking for early 60's aftermarket pickup truck bumpers. Sports Liner made the bumper on my truck, but I know a lot of farmers welded up their own bumpers. Show me!

Specifically I’m referencing a 1962 Chevy K20 fleetside scale model project I’m working on. On those trucks rear bumpers were optional, so many buyers would turn to the aftermarket (or their own welding skills) for a heavy duty bumper. I’m not interested in seeing !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! or !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Any interesting vintage farm/forestry/utility bumper image would be helpful. Special purpose design or PTO integration would be icing on the cake. Examples:

No pictures but back in the day it was normal to see dealer installed bumpers wth the dealers name etched across the entire bumper.

I’m going to apologize in advance because I’m going to greatly disappoint you. I work for a pickup accessories company that through the 60's, 70's, 80's manufactured nearly exclusively bumpers, and grill guards. We have books upon books full of pictures of our bumpers on any truck you can imagine. Scouts, Internationals, Chevy’s, Dodges, Fords, Broncos, Luvs, S-10's, etc. etc. etc. A lot of them were stamped bumpers, but they weren’t factory, and were very much utility bumpers. Unfortunately, all of these photos are in books, not the computer, so I have nothing to post. We were talking about getting rid of most of them because whoever was at the company back then, isn’t here any more, and they’re of no use to us any more, so maybe I’ll see if I can take them home and upload them at some point.

That would be excellent! I’d be very interested in seeing what the books have to offer.

And, never apologize for books. If some of them are slated for the trash and you don’t want them, please ask me. I am trying not to accumulate trash, but I might be willing to give a neat old book a good home.

I’ve got an old Cat Eye lighting accessory catalog sitting around somewhere, which I saved from the landfill. So, a bumper book wouldn’t hurt.

Most of the bumper catalogs were tossed pretty recently, I should have been a little more clear, what we have are photo albums, which are really cool actually. I’ll do my best to make sure that they aren’t thrown out. In our purge of old things I did find and keep a couple of notebooks for the initial design of a few bumpers. One that stood out was a few first sketches for the rear bumper on a 1960-1966 GM pickup. I’ll see if I can’t dig those out when I get home and post a couple things.

Oh man, that sucks. Please do pull them out of the trash pile if you can. They can always be recycled later if they prove to be uninteresting. I look forward to seeing some! Of course for this project the 60-66 would be most useful, but I’d like to see any of them.

It’s too late for some of them, we tossed them about two weeks ago. There might still be a few around though, I’ll see what I can find.
